We are aware that the volume of incoming calls to the practice is currently unprecedented. We are very sorry that this means you may have problems getting through to us. We have checked with our telephony provider who has confirmed that the lines are currently extremely busy. There are no errors with our lines and the system is working correctly.

We have had to disable online appointments booking due to Covid and we have also been advised to discourage patients from entering the building with queries. Both of these mean there are significant extra pressures on the telephone lines.

We are looking into workaround solutions but in the meantime please send us a message via your SystmOnline account or complete an e-consult via our website if you are trying to contact us about a medical matter. If you are not registered for SystmOnline please email the practice at parkparadesurgery@nhs.net to request registration – you will need to send either photos or scanned copies of your ID (photo ID & proof of address) and will then receive log in details.
Please do not use the email address for any other correspondence.

We will keep the situation under review and look to make continual improvements where we can

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working to keep both our patients and staff safe. Therefore, where possible, we are offering a remote consultation as an alternative to attending the practice in person.

If you agree to a remote consultation the GP or healthcare professional may need to receive and store images taken by patients for clinical purposes. This will only be done in the interests of the patient where it is necessary for providing health care and with patient consent. The approach to video consulting, image sharing, and storage is the same as it would be for face to face interactions.

Occasionally these images may be of an intimate area. Please be assured we will never ask for images of an intimate area of a child to be sent.

For adults, verbal consent will always be sought during a telephone consultation with a Clinician and documented before images of an intimate area are received by the Practice. If we need to store images on your GP record this will be only for as long as necessary. It is a patient’s choice to share an image either of their own accord or at the request of the health professional treating you. Refusal to share an image does not prevent access to care and treatment or result in patients receiving an inferior standard of care. IMPORTANT - PATIENT INFORMATION NOTICE

As part of our continued COVID-19 safety measures, we request that all patients who are visiting the building for a face-to-face appointment please wear a face mask (or other suitable covering eg scarf over the nose and mouth).
This is in line with NHS policy and is to safeguard the wellbeing of our patients and staff alike.

If you call to book an appointment you will in the first instance receive a phone call from a GP, who will then decide whether you need to attend the surgery. This is in an effort to keep everybody safe and reduce the transmission of the Coronavirus.

Online booking of appointments has been suspended on advice from NHS England. This is because we need to triage all appointments to mitigate the risks associated with potentially infected patients attending the Practice.
To book an appointment please telephone the surgery.


Important information for patients returning from Denmark

From 4am on 7 November, British Nationals, or residents, who are returning to the UK directly or indirectly from Denmark will need to self-isolate along with all other members of their household until 2 weeks have passed since they were last in Denmark. Unlike other travel to the UK, there will be no exemptions to this quarantine policy.
For those who arrived before 4am on 7 November, we are also asking anyone who has been in Denmark in the last 14 days, to self-isolate along with their households. The length of that self-isolation will depend on when travellers were last in Denmark, and those affected will be contacted with advice via the means detailed on their passenger locator forms completed on arrival to the UK.

We are currently not accepting enquiries by email and instead ask that you contact us:

  • using the e-consult tool if you need advice from a GP on a medical problem
  • using the NHS App
  • using the secure messaging feature within SystmOnline (which also enables you to order repeat medications or request a medication that is not on repeat but that you have had within the last 12 months)
  • by phone if you are not able to do any of the above

Important Notice for Patients

PLEASE do not come to the surgery if you are unable to get through on the phone as you will NOT be allowed to enter the building (unless by prior arrangement) – the phone lines are understandably very busy and we are trying our best to answer all calls as quickly as we can.

If you have Online Access and your query is a medical one then please use the messaging option within online services and you can contact us this way instead. This is preferable to an email as it’s more confidential and goes straight onto your medical record. The surgery mailbox is also very busy and we can’t always reply the same day.

Our practice team consists of 6 GPs, a physiotherapist, a shared team (within the medical centre) of practice nurses and healthcare assistants, a community midwife, counsellors and the District Nursing and Health Visitor teams.
