Prescription ordering
Posted or Updated on 25 Sep 2023
Following a recent meeting with the CCG, patient groups, and local pharmacies it was decided that pharmacies should not order medication on behalf of patients with effect from September 2019.
This is in a bid to both improve safety and reduce over-ordering and waste.
It means that patients will not be able to ring the practice, or the pharmacy, to order medications. We would therefore urge our patients to obtain a username and password for our secure website so that they are able to order online instead. To do this you need to come to the surgery with 2 forms of ID (one to be photographic such as a driving licence or passport, and the other proof of address such as a utility bill or bank statement) and your details will be issued to you there and then.
The other option is for patients to bring or post a repeat slip to us.
This has been trialled in Ripon and Knaresborough and deemed a success.
